Which Superman Movie do you prefer?

Ok lets put this in perspective, we all know the story of superman right. Well this isn't about that, this is about comparing movies. I want to compare Superman The Movie which came out in 1978 to Superman Returns which came out this year. Now I know Superman Returns just came out in theaters but maybe a good number of people have seen it by now, myself included. But I was just wondering how many of you prefer over the other.

Now when you make your choice I would like a good reason on why you picked the choice that you did. Personally I liked Superman the Movie that stared Christopher Reeve over Superman Returns that stars Brendon Routh, now I'm not saying Superman Returns is a bad movie far from it I liked it very much.

anyway here are your options

Superman The Movie (1978) vs. Superman Returns (2006)

Which Superman Movie do you prefer?
OK, Superman movies will never be known for the quality of the acting. So that basically leaves us with story and effects. The original "Superman" had a better story as it got to set up the whole background. Without the background there wasn't much left of the story. Besides, like you said, we all knew the story already anyway. With that said, the newer version "Superman Returns" is a much better and more exciting movie.
Reply:that's not a good thing to say, the first superman movies had very good acting in them. can't say the same for SR though, the FX of him using x ray vision was just not on the ball for me. i like the old way of showing x ray vision. Report It

Reply:the new one had green and blue water and sky. what's up with making the water and sky green and blue or at least cyan? Report It

Reply:Superman The Movie (1978). No one beats Christopher Reeves as Superman, but I can say this new kid does know how to sound like him in the movie.
Reply:I was not there in 1978 , But I have seen the movie on DVD , I have also seen 2006 Movie. In sence of special effects , The 2006 One is hell lot of better. Otherwise The First one is better.
Reply:The one where all the actors who take on the role of Superman always meet an untimely end. It's due out in 2010.
Reply:Superman 1978

was 3 years old and got hooked eversince

Christopher Reeve was the perfect Superman. Brandon Routh looks the part but he should have given more life to the character of Clark Kent.

Christopher made his Clark Kent so goofy and awkward to the point that no one would notice he is in fact Superman, despite the uncanny vital statistics the two characters shared. Saw Superman Returns last night and there was little difference in the portrayal of Superman and Clark Kent by Brandon. At least, Bryan Singer did a damn good job resurrecting the franchise.
Reply:superman 1 and 2 with christopher reeves!
Reply:Superman: The Movie (and #2). Christopher Reeve will ALWAYS be Superman!!!
Reply:Sure, the comparisons need to be made, but we need to keep in mind that Superman The Movie came out in 1978! At the time, it was one of the most (if not the most) groundbreaking film ever made. The visual effects may seem a bit simplistic today, but at the time - people were wowed back then in a major way! They did what they could with what they had...without CGI.

Superman Returns has a good script, I was actually surprised.

Let's discuss the acting....We won't get into the Marlon Brando thing, 'cause he's sort of in both. Right...anyways...let's move on. Gene Hackman brought a comic element to the role of Lex Luther that Kevin Spacey lacks...don't get me wrong,Spacey is an incredible actor, I just like Gene Hackman's take of the charactor more.

Margo Kidder may be a looney these days, but back in '78, she was da bomb! Which brings us to Brendon Routh vs. Christopher Reeve. I gotta say Routh did a good job, but I think its pretty clear who the REAL Superman is...long live the original. Nonetheless, I am happy to see Superman Returns on the big screen, and it got a much deserved face-lift.
Reply:first one.

Movie Maker Narriation problem...?

hi! :) I have a question.... I need help with the Narriation on the movie maker thing... I put music in the music video but I want to talk in the movie I'm making. But when I do Narriation it makes the music go to the end so I talk in the movie but the music starts when the movie is all over.

So... how can I have my voice talking while the music is playing? thanks :)

Movie Maker Narriation problem...?
My narration never worked. Just go to Start %26gt; search %26gt; Sound Recorder

It only goes to 60 seconds, so you'll have to edit the sound, just like a movie in the timeline.

Advice on being a Movie DIrector/Writter?
I would take advantage of the script sites (zoetrope.com, triggerstreet.com, cinefuse.com) as places to present your writing and get comments upon them

part of the requirement before posting your mnaterial is to read the scripts of others. This is the best way to get a feel for what you may want to do and how to do it well
Reply:As a writer my self...I say write something that your comfortable with...Granted taking risks some time pays off big but ...Do you feel is right and dont second guess your self ....they wont know it went wrong unless you tell them

MoViE nIgHt.................?
Is this a guy you like? Why wouldn't you want him to bring his g/f along?

If this is just a friend, I say invite him - but don't keep him from bringing his girlfriend if he wants.

As far as movies - comedies and action. Don't go drama/chick flicks or the guys may end up falling asleep on you! lol
Reply:Go see stomp tha yard that junks hot. That is all.
Reply:well you can invite him, but its his call if he wants to join you. are you inviting him over as your 'date'... bc if he does come over and kinda cheats on his gf with you then he just might be a cheater and you wouldnt want a boy like that either.

regardless, id stick with comedies; taladega nights, dodgeball, wedding crashers.. movies like that

Invite the boy, if he is your friend. he might be hurt if you don't invite him
Reply:invite him AND his girlfriend
Reply:maybe it would be nice to invite the gf too, but other weise dont worry about it. i would get The Island, its a really good movie good for guy and girl, The Wedding Crashers for a good laugh, Family Stone if you want a more calm movie, The Upside of Anger if you want a more one toned movie.
Reply:Well, I'm assuming that you don't like this guy's girlfriend?

If you like him then it's probably not a good idea b/c the possibility of him cheating on his girlfriend is NEVER good for anyone. If he's just a friend and you're not interested in him then it's probably okay but you should make sure there's no pressure on this guy and a girl, as in don't have all couples and this guy sitting there feeling akward b/c he has a girlfriend. Unless you're worried about his girlfriend getting mad at you, go ahead and invite him. Afterall, it is HIS decision to come or not and what happens when he's there. Don't worry too much about it. Comedies are always safe for both guys %26amp; girls. My favorites are Grandmas's Boy, Clerks II, etc. but exciting/action movies would be good b/c generally they can at least hold a girl's attention and guy's always like those, beware of scary movies b/c that's when cuddling happens and you don't anyone to feel weird b/c they're left out or ... not left out but rather creeped out!

Movie with creepy cab driver?

It's bugging me...there is a movie where the main character(s) get into a cab, and the driver is a creepy looking red head- he's evil looking and his face is pretty "warped". I thought it was carrot top (made to be even uglier) but it wasn't. The driver only appears 2x in this movie...once was in the streets. Both times he looks almost demonic. Does anyone know the movie? It was maybe 5-6 years ago? I think the movie had kind of a creepy feeling over all and the driver just enhanced it. Not sure…this is all I remember!

also you should get "you me and dupree" i heard its pretty funny...
Reply:First off it shouldn't be wrong to invite someone who has a girlfriend unless you were planing on doing more than watch a movie. As for a movie I think the movie Accepted is ******' hilarious.

Reply:Watch IT and The Hills Have Eyes
Reply:i would say it is fine, to have that guy because it isnt like he is the only guy there.. good movies: american pie, accepted, 40 year old virgin, weding crashers, mean girls ( ok even the guys like this one!),

HAVE FUN!
Reply:I think its appropriate to invite your couple friends. It might be relaxing for the single people to use them if they are uncomfortable around the one youre hooking them up with. As for the movie you should do a comedy(not a romantic comedy it's rough on the guys), nothing too serious or it may bring up contraversial conversation. Super Troopers, Waiting, or Scary Movie 4. Something new might not allow people to talk.
Reply:The guy with the girlfriend should NOT be invited--unless his girlfriend is welcome, too. If you are attempting to "hook-up" with him yourself, you're actually using your friends to do so.

Think about this...if he was YOUR boyfriend, how would you feel if he went to a party of any kind without you? And...if he accepted your invitation and came to the party, is he REALLY the kind of boyfriend you want for yourself?

Choices for movies are a bit easier. I'm sure you'll get lots of suggestions, but "Taladega Nights (The ballad of Ricky Bobby)" was one of the funniest movies I've seen in a long time.
Reply:It's not wrong to invite that guy first off. Well A good movie for biys and girls would be Clerks 2 (that movie is so ******** funny) and Maybe Little Man.

A good horror movie?

Can anyone suggest a good horror movie? I'll tell you what I like and have seen and what I don't like...

Loved the thing, an american werewolf in london, bram stoker's Dracula, The Lost Boys, The Fly, The Howling. Liked the underworld movies, Blade I %26amp; II, Hellboy, invasion of the body snatchers.

I dislike movies like SAW, hostel, devil's rejects and such.

I like zombie movies and japanese horror movies (but I've seen tooo many of these), but if you've seen one you've seen all, so unless it's super original and cool, don't mention it.

Also, I don't like the hide and seek, and see no evil type...

I like when the movie relies more on story and/or action than in violence or gore and blood.

Any suggestions? Thanks!!!

A good horror movie?
seriously skip the remake of the Haunting... it takes camp and cheese to unsatisfying levels. The original one is by far the way to go.

You say you like Japanese horror... how about Korean? I just watched "The Host" today and bad dubbing aside, it was a fairly decent flick with a few jump moments. It is a monster movie and features a little gore... but it is more character driven than shock fest.

Rear Window is pretty good too - though I'm not sure I'd classify it as a true horror flick. There's a gray area between horror and thriller. You really can't go wrong with Hitchcock.
Reply:It's not really a true horror, but I like "The Hunger". It has David Bowie, Susan Sarandon and Catherine Deneuve in it. Plus it has fantastic music. Slow moving, but very good.
Reply:The original "The Haunting". Someone mentioned the 1999 remake. Forget it and go get the black-and-white original, with Julie Harris.

I first saw this on TV, over two nights, with commercial interruptions, and I was still scared silly! There is no blood, and no special effects. It's all in the mind, and they never show what's causing the haunting. And that's the reason it works -- because whatever any horror movie shows you, it's never as powerful as what your imagination can conjure up.

Based on the book by Shirley Jackson, this is truly the benchmark by which all other "horror" movies are rated.

Forget slasher movies -- they leave nothing to the imagination and are not scary, only nauseating. Zombie movies speak to our fears, but in the end it's still just some rotting bodies. We all die in the end, and there's no horror in that.
Reply:ok...you like underworld and blade but you don't like Saw? i understand that they are completely different types of movies, but i mean come on....the Saw movies may suck, but i'm pretty sure that they are much better than underworld and blade.

but anyway, theres always Resident Evil:Extinction, thats coming out soon...it looks like a really sucky movie but it looks like its gonna have a lot of action.(hey,it has zombies in it...who doesn't like zombies?)

there really isn't any horror movie today that is good. Maybe you should try fantasy or something else. Start with Pan's Labyrinth, that movie has a great story and it has a really dark tone.
Reply:Try An American Haunting. It is the true story of John Bell and his family. It is the only documented case where a spirit causes the death of a man. It stars Donald Sutherland and Sissy Spacek. It isn't bloody or gory, but certainly scary. Andrew Jackson was reported to say that he would rather take on the entire English Fleet rather than stay one night in the Bell house.
Reply:My favorite Zombie movies old:

1) Dawn of the Dead -1978 original considered the best one by most die hard fans

2) Night of the Living Dead- 1968 original in black and white

3)Day of the Dead- Early 1985- Romero (the director of all three) stated this was his favorite one. I agree

Out of the New zombie movies and remakes

1) 28 weeks Later- 2007- English director Danny Boyle did a very good job. Might want to see the first one titled "28 days later" done in 2003

2) Dawn of the Dead -remake 2004. A few different twists and homages to the original

3) Day of the Dead is to remade sometime in 2007

You will probably like the newer ones because they are more action movies. The older ones consist more of character development and the basic theme that humans can't coexist together. They are a little more gorier too.

Is this the future of the movie industry?

In response to rampant movie pirating, the movie industry might begin releasing their movies at the theater and on DVD simultaneously. Think about it, as soon as you walk out of the movie theater you can go up to the counter and purchase it on DVD. Their logic is that people that go to movies will always want to go for the "movie-going experience" and not necessarily for the seeing the movie itself. And since movie goers while be pumped after watching it at the theatre, they're twice as likely to purchase the movie on DVD there at the theatre than after months of waiting. So what do you guys think? Do you think it'll work?

Is this the future of the movie industry?
One of the problems that the movie industry faces these days are not only pirating but the fact that they can not offer much of a different movie going experience than one could have at home. Back in the 1950's, the movie industry was faced with another new dilemma, the television. Many thought this would be the end of movie theaters. Then, they came out with 2.35:1 aspect ratio and made movie going a much different and better experience than television could offer. However, in this digital age and with enough money, one could have a very similar experience at home minus the crying babies, the obnoxious children, those people that LOVE to chat during a movie, cellphones... etc, etc.

Point being, unless the movie industry can create an experience better than what one could have at home, ticket sales will continue to decrease (overall ticket sales not including the blockbusters that are bolstered by inflation anyways)

Another way to get patrons to go to the theaters would be to increase the time between theater and DVD release like they had in the 80's. With some tapes, they even jacked up the price of purchase for a couple of years which required people to rent them instead.

I imagine eventually they will release it directly over the net (which is being done with DVD releases very soon anyways via iTunes, I believe). This way they could already copyright the encodement and have less problems with piracy.
Reply:I think I would try to get into the lobby and just buy the dvd, rather than go see the movie then spend more money just to take it home.
Reply:They would have to charge more then $20 to $30 for the DVD initially for people to still see it at the movies, but I would rather pay $30 and take it home and not hear people taking and I wouldnt have to pay $20 for popcorn, candy, and a soda. If you want to own it initially it should be $100. And we'll be downloading even more.
Reply:Thye better do something quick before th ewhole thing tanks because I for one, am tired of putting up with rude, smelly, loud eating, belching, movie commentators!!! WHO KICK THE BACK OF MY CHAIR.
Reply:That's not a bad idea. It would bring in more money all around.
Reply:It would certainly be worth test-marketing to see what would happen; I think the long-term effect of such a strategy is that you'd only see the big-budget special effects movies at the theatres, and since in reality there are a small percentage of those, you'd see a lot of movie houses (and the megaplex) go the way of the Dodo.
Reply:Yes I Can see it happening but can you imagine the embarrassment if only a few DVDs are sold after the premiere of an anticipated film?

Upcomiing Boxing Movie in 2008 ??
I wish I could answer your question, but I've just heard rumors too.I heard that a screenplay was written and purchased, that's all.Production has started on "The Fighter",starring Mark Wahlberg as Lowell's own Mickey Ward. Also Ving Rhames is set to play Sonny Liston in a bio-epic.You can always check out 1998's "Sugar Ray Robinson:The Bright Lights and Dark Shadows of a champion" documentary if you havn't seen it yet. Also HBO has produced a documentary on Joe Louis due to be brodcast this year.***edit*** I remembered where I saw that a script was written and bought (december's Boxing Digest ).The movie will be called The Life of Sugar RayRobinson. It is scheduled for pre-production in march of this year and release in early 2009.A director has yet to be named.Negotions are underway to distribute the film w/ two major studios.Michel Shane and partner Anthony Romano ( I,Robot and Catch Me If You Can ) are onboard to executive produce.
Reply:The movie you're talking about is the life of Micky Ward. The most deserving boxer of the last 10 years. A book was written about him called Irish Thunder. He sealed his seat in the Boxing Hall Of Fame following his trilogy of matches with Arturo Gatti.

I was Laughing too ,real funny movie,I think this is a very old movie 50's ,60's or 70s'

Anybody outhere know this movie??

Name of this movie?
It sounds like "In Like Flint" (1967). An action/comedy about a former spy whose released from prison and recruited again by his old spy pals. I'm sure this is the movie you're asking about. I remember the scenes on the train and at the military base. I've attached a link.

Movie Question.?

I saw a movie a long time ago it was on lifetime. It wasa about a little boy i think and he had an immaginary friend and the mom thogut it was cutte. but then the immaginary friend stasrted telling him to kill people i think. and all these people were dead. and the moms friend came up dead. and at the end of the movie the little boys immaginary friend turned out to be a real man and he was living in a secret part of the house that the mom didnt even know was there. and you can get to it through the little boys closet. this is a real movie i think.Does anyone know what movie im talking about or the name of it? it has been bugging me for a long time.

Movie Question.?
It may have been Man or Stranger in the Attic. They both are movies.
Reply:It sounds like Hide and Seek with Robert De Niro although I think thats fairly recent. Unless it was a remake.
Reply:that sounds scary!!! does any1 know what it is?? i want to watch it
Reply:I'm not sure but you can go on google and look up scary movies and it might be in there.

Burning "WIndows movie" files to DVD/ what kind of format are the movies?

How do you burn 'windows movie' to dvd?

Do you need a special program? Also I've been getting a lot of flicks from btjunkie lately and a lot of them come in "windows movie" file format (at least I assume that's what it is I can never find the extension (I even look under properties and it has a name like:

Title.title.example.example.[TC].[KANE... W.HQ ToRrEnTs.C oM].

I guess my question consists of two parts:

1) where do I find out what kind of format a downloaded movie is in, if it doesn't obviously say?

and

2)if it's in windows movie file how do I burn it to a dvd that doesn't need to be played on a pc app. esp. the ones that come in two separate parts.?

thanks for any advice!

Burning "WIndows movie" files to DVD/ what kind of format are the movies?
try to use AVS Video Converter. This program supports lots of video formats and it can burn DVD for stand alone dvd players.

http://dvdvideosoft.com/avs-video-tools....

Here is the list of supported formats from their site: *.avi, *.divx, *.xvid, *.ifo, *.vob, *.vro, *.mp4, *.m4v, *.h263, *.h264, *.mpeg, *.mpg, *.m1v, *.m2v, *.dat, *.mpe, *.3gp, *.3g2, *.3gpp, *.3gp2, *.wmv, *.wmv-hd, *.asf, *.mov, *.qt, *.rm, *.rmvb, *.swf, *.dvr-ms, *.dv, *.dif, *.flv, *.mkv, *.ogm.

I hope it will open your downloaded files too.

By the way check one thing to see your files extension:

run Explorer (for example click My Computer on the Desktop)

go Tools menu %26gt; Folder Options...

then the View tab

find "Hide extensions for known file types"

uncheck it

click OK

Now Explorer has to show all files extentions.
Reply:If you want to play a movie on a DVD player, it must be burned with a program that creates a "video" (or "movie") DVD (as opposed to a data DVD). Nero and Roxio are just two of MANY programs that do this. Windows XP does NOT come with such a program, unless your computer maker added it (which is possible, if they included a DVD burner).

To answer your other questions, the easiest way to determine format is to look at the extension (.mpg, .avi, .wmv, etc.). While not conclusive, this'll give you a good start. From there, there might a specific CODEX (like DIVX) that's been used. Short of having a program that reads the "header" info from the file, it's not trivial for most people to figure this out.

My suggestion is to get a good cross-converting program and DVD burner. Then, you won't have to worry so much about it.
Reply:usually the type of file is in its properties, you right click on its icon, click on properties and it should say. As for your other question, when you burn a movie, whether it be avi, wmv, it is usually burned as a mpeg, as that is viewable by most DVD players. The software should automatically do it for you. I have nero 6 and it does it for me. Hope this helps.

Movie Question!!! Mid to late 70's maybe very early 80's. About a young blond white boy who lives in Africa

and befriends a young African boy %26amp; they are best of friends. For fun they get inside a old tire %26amp; push it down a hill. They do it many times then the African boy is killed. About the saddest movie I can remember. Also while I am on the subject there was another very sad movie about a young boy %26amp; his retarded adult friend who liked to play baseball with him yet all the other boys made fun of him so he turned his back on his retarded friend. That was a very sad movie also. It was done a little latter than the previous question about the boys in Africa. It came out in the late 70's early 80's. I would appreciate any light on these movies they have haunted me for many moons. I would like to see what impact they would have now. Thank You For Your FeedBack.

Movie from my childhood - can you help me remember it?

Years, and YEARS ago I watched a movie in elementary school (I'm in my 30s now so it was a while ago). I think it was a Disney movie but I'm not sure. I can only remember that there was a young boy and a young girl living in a dark mysterious house in the woods, it was a sort of 'scary kids' movie and there was a ghost of some sort who wrote them messages in the fog on the windows. There was also a scary old woman (or man, I'm not sure) who everyone in town was afraid of but the kids ended up getting to know her and she taught them about prisms from the rainbows the light made on her wall. I know it sounds crazy, lol - but this has been driving me insane for days now. Anyone else remember anything about this movie?

Movie from my childhood - can you help me remember it?
I do remember a prism scene in Pollyanna (Disney, 1960) where she and Jimmy go into a crotchity old woman's home and she teaches them about prisms.

Other than that I can't put my finger on the ghost portion of it. The only other movies I remember would be Escape to Witch Mountain (Disney, 1975) and Return to Witch Mountain, where the kids have supernatural powers like telepathy, etc.

Hope this helps...
Reply:Hmmmm. I do remember the scene with the old woman and the rainbows of light on the wall caused by the prism-like crystals on her chandelier (or other lamps). But I cannot recall the film itself. I'll try.
Reply:I know in the movie Pollyanna there was a scary old man who lived in the woods who had tons of prisms, also in that movie there was a old lady Pollyanna would visit and the prisms were hanging on the old ladies lamp shade that sat in front of her bedroom window. I don't know if thats what you looking for but that was the 1st thing that came to mind. I hope you find the movie.

Angel (Old Movie)?

I am looking for an old movie that I had seen on a weekend on TV around 1990 or so. It looked like it was from the AU. Two female children want to become angles, they are from a disfunctional family, the mother and father fight, the come back covered in mud in one scean, they get "Born again" in a babtisem type thing in a lake and the girl askes if she can do it again. At the end of the movie the girls go down to the lake or the river and the older girl goes into the lake deep, and drownds. Her sister on the bank is scared that her sister has drownd , but the starts to float, as though her sister has carried her off to become an angle as well, I had to be up durring weekends, I was working the third shift I think the name of this movie was ANGEL, or ANGELS. Looked very old, not a modern movie. It may have also been from some AU film festivle or something, and may have been a short movie. Please let me know.

Why are all movie tickets at the movie theatre priced the same for all movies?

...and when other things such as cars.. depending on the car brand..i.e.. mercedes and hyundai are priced diffferently due to known quality and build differences... some movies are known blockbusters or high budget whereas other movies are taking a chance or are low budget and still priced the same? why cant the movie ticket prices be subjective and set at different prices creating a competition and fighting for sales which would benefit the movie goer

Why are all movie tickets at the movie theatre priced the same for all movies?
I don't really know but I figure it is something like this: The higher budget movies know that they are probably going to be more successful and sell a lot more tickets, but the lower budget movies know that they might not sell as many, so even though the higher budget ones sold more, they probably only make a little bit more then the lower budget ones who sold half as many tickets but also spent half as much producing the movie. I don't know. That whole theory probably doesn't make sense.
Reply:I used to work for American Multi-Cinema (AMC Theatres) and I can definitely tell you the reason why...

The theatre does not control the pricing of the tickets of each and every movie that comes out. Corporate office only controls the pricing of the tickets depending on the location of the theatre to the general public (quality of the area, stores / shops, property value). It is the production companies that make the movies controls the movie market. All the movie productions band together (kind of like that screen actors guild or something like that) to find out figures to draw in the crowd and make alot of money. The value of a single ticket stays the same for all movies (doesn't matter what the movie is about). It is to also find out the box office hits during the opening weekend. Have you ever wondered how the people figured out how much a particular movie pulls in on a single weekend? Have you ever wondered how people could list the top ten movies that the public have seen on a single weekend? Yep... This is it. I've heard this question so many times when theatre guests come in and ask me why the ticket prices are so expensive. I've even had people come in and demand to talk to corporate office about the ticket pricing... Theatre companies do not control ticket pricing. You need to go to production companies for that (WB, Disney, Lionsgate, etc).

Movie file compression?

I have downloaded some movies, some of them are quite long, I know how to convert %26amp; burn them ( I use movie dvd maker) the only trouble i have is that if the movie is longer than a blank dvd (120 mins) it wont convert the downloaded files, So I use easy splitter to split the downloaded files into smaller files. Thats ok but it takes a lot of disks.. Is there any way to compress the downloaded movie file (Avi, DivX, MPeg or whatever file type) and then convert to dvd %26amp; burn. I have tried to use shrink dvd but it just keeps saying it cant find the file even though I know its in the specified folder,so it obviously wont recognise the file types, So the whole proccess from download to dvd takes nearly all day and I end up with a film on two or three dvd's. Surely there must be a simpler way to do this ?????

Movie file compression?
You could try ratDVD but there may be playback issues

Reply:Have you tried burning to a dual-layer disc?
Reply:Download DVD Shrink
Reply:Hi.

Let's see; I have a bit of explaining to do:

1. Even though the default length of 4.35gb dvd blanks is 120min, with the right software, you can actually fit up to 6 hours on each disk. So far, you've burned "SP" (Standard Play) mode, but there's "LP" (Long Play, 4 hours) and "SLP" (Super Long Play, 6 hours). One app I know for sure that can do this is "Nero Vision", which is part of Nero Burning Rom Suite 6-7 (dvd burning was not available to Nero until vers 6). Wherever you're downloading movies, Nero Burning Rom can also be downloaded.

2. Don't worry about DVDShrink; Nero Vision can do all of the encoding/compression and besides, DVDShrink doesn't *touch* neither avi's, mpeg or divx anyway. It can only do physical dvds, loose dvd files on a hardrive or .iso disk images.

3. I wrote a tutorial (as "corypolo") describing a simple process to burn avi files to dvd with Nero Vision here: http://forums.torrentportal.com/ftopic75... . Therefore...

4. You won't have to split a single movie to 2 or more disks anymore; in fact, you could actually do the reverse and put a few movies on *one* disk if you really felt like it (and the total length doesn't exceed 360 mins). And...

5. No.. no conversion should be necessary: Nero Vision accepts over 2 dozen different formats. But finally...

6. If you really want to stick with your existing application, well, since it seems to be working only in SP mode (from what I gather from their site), you may consider chopping off less crucial opening/closing credits where applicable. That way, if certain videos are just a hair or so above the 120min mark, they may work to one disk after all.

Apparently (for movie dvd maker), file size is less an issue than *video length*, so a "compression" would just degrade video quality without the benefit of making a movie too long "smaller" for the application you're using.

Movie Problem?

I have a problem with downloading a movie onto a DVD. I have a movie saved onto my "DVD/CD-RW Drive (E:)" and it is small enough to fit onto a blank DVD i have. I want to know which programes i can use to download the movie onto the blank disk and how. If possible, free programmes that come with PCs may be availiable? Please help me. Thankyou.

P.S. It is an "avi" movie.

Movie Problem?
i don't think you can burn an avi to a dvd and have it play in a dvd player... if you're going to do that, it needs to be a VCD. but that's about all i know on that... and you can't download something to your blank dvd... you have to download it to your hard drive and burn it to your dvd.
Reply:first you have to convert the film using an avi converter which you should be able to download from limewire then using a programme like nero 7 you should then be able to download the film to dvd takes a bit of practise

Movie Ratings?

Sometimes a movie is rated by the way things are going until the end of the story.

If the good guy gets the girl, the movie will be rated as PG.

If the bad guy gets the girl, the movie will get an R rating.

And if it's an X-rated movie, everybody gets the girl (or vice versa).

Movie Ratings?
ok...

The most disappointing movie of all time...?

What has been the most disappointing movie to you? To me, it was "The Village" That movie got so much hype, about how it was the movie of the year, and they were showing previews of it on almost every channel. I bought my tickets hours before and by the time the movie started it was sold out. I was so excited..after it was over, I don't think I have ever been that disappointed after a movie in my life...so in your opinion which movie to you was most disappointing? (why?)

I totally agree The Village sucked balls. The BoogeyMan 2 was so disapointing to me, I was so excited to see it and it sucked. It wasn't even scary, like I heard it was suposed to be.

Movie marriage?

If two people are making a movie and in the movie they get married and they say the vows, but it's just in a movie and the people happen to star in the movie, does God look at them as married to each other? Christian view...

Movie marriage?
I believe that there are certain people annointed to give a blessing of marriage...legally and spiritually.

So, if the person performing the ceremony in a movie is not ordained to really marry people, then it cannot be a marriage in the eyes of God.

Make sense?

Have a great day!

Movie ideas for a movie made in middle school??

so for this class i hav to make a movie

it can be however long ( nothing to crazy )

its a movie class so i hav the camera and the computer and the music and effects but now i just need a story to go along with that all

please dont tell me to think of one on my own or to reenact a movie that has already been made, i need fresh new ideas!

thanks!!

i'll give ten points for best answer!

Movie ideas for a movie made in middle school??
1) There are no NEW ideas; everything is stolen from elsewhere. The trick is telling it in an compelling manner so it FEELS new.

That said, you want something rather simple to shoot. It doesn;t matter how long as much as how good. A very simple story on escalating pranks and practical jokes and how it all gets out of hand
Reply:Me and my friends constantly do this stuff.

Im not going to give you a whole layout but these are the genres that are safe

Horrors are always easy, you dont need many effects, just scary music fake weapons and a story line with many twists.

Drama doesnt need much gear or fx but it is hard to get 6th-8th graders to act that well to make it high quality
Reply:Make it about umm.....ZOMG I know!

About to persons that are competing against each other it can be mixed martial arts fighting or kinda two girls fighting for a guy or... About one guy thats constantly competing with life to the bet in something like a firefighter I dont knoww! things like that!

hope this helps :D
Reply:Work with what you have around you - you're in middle school so have a story which takes place in school and maybe the plot can be about an occurance in school.

Ideas could be:

A test of friendship- how far friends will go to preserve their relationship and the burdens involved in doing so

The cliche' peer pressure movie - A movie about drugs/alcohol that kids are exposed to, if done right it can be quite good and not end up being like the cheesy films you see in health class

Competition - Whether it be an academic or atheletic competetition you can make a film around this

The first/last few days - Make a film about what its like first going, or leaving middle school

Many of these themes can even overlap, because like in life they commonly do. So make a film about this or maybe loosely base your film about a significant experience in school that has happened to you.

Remember, a film doesn't need flashy effects to be good, often many of the most rememerable and revered films don't have complicated or intricate effects.

Take It's a Wonderful Life for example, aside from transitions like dissolves, fades, etc. (very hard to do on actual film especially in the 40's with equipment like optical printers) and a few stop motion tricks (Clarence poping from one place to another) it is very simplistic, even in its story but it has definately withstand the test of time.

Also by keeping it simple it gives you less work to do.

And remember sometimes, "less is more"

Good luck.

Quote: "I'm looking for comedy ideas more than anything else..."

Ok. Well you could always write a satire. Maybe satirize or parody school experiences (using the themes I all ready gave you)

or...

If your not interested in making it a school-related story, make it about something outside of school... but remember comedy usually works best when it is...

1) True to life (that way the audience doesn't feel alienated and they can actually relate to it)

2) Suttle (meaning natural, not like a slapstick gag or something preplaned, dont get me wrong sometimes this can work but not usually, in most cases improvision is the key)

3) You're main character has to be someone you either really like or really dislike, if you have no feelings for the character it wont be funny.

4) There MUST be an actual story and plot for several reasons... First it introduces the character and tells us about them (which will be important for the viewers to understand why there situations later on are funny) Second it gives the viewer a reason to watch the movie and it justifies the time they are taken out of their day to view it. Thirdly, it simply make it enjoyable.

* Side Note*

Keep in mind a good film asks a question... The reason they ask a question is because it motivates the story, and also makes the viewer want to know the answer (which they will only find out by watching the movie)

Examples:

Lord of the Rings - Will Frodo be able to destroy the ring?

Forrest Gump - Will Forrest ever find out what his true purpose in life is?

Dodgeball (A True Underdog Story) - Will Peter be able to save Average Joe's Gym?

It's A Wonderful Life - Will George learn what he has to live for?

And so on...

I would make a list tonight with friends or family of different scenarios... then run through the list seeing which best follows these 4 "guidlines" I listed. The one that is best suited maybe your winner.

Remember, if this is for a class. There should be some level of sophistication to it, so keeping that in mind you should use these recommondations if your serious about making a good film that your viewers will both RESPECT %26amp; ENJOY... otherwise it will probably be more suited for a site like youtube.

Best of Luck

Flash button inside movie clip: go to frame label?

I have a flash document I'm using for a record catalog, with ordeing information etc.

There are two seperate sections for VINYL RELEASES and FANZINES. I'd like these to be in seperate movie clips, with release images used as buttons. The buttons will lead to a labeled frame inside the movie clip, containing a white space to cover the document, and more information on individual releases. I hope that was clear enough, Im having a little trouble explaining.

I have both movie clips, with buttons inside of them- (button script):

on(release){

_root.gotoAndStop("yay01");

}

These buttons are changing the original documents frame instead of the frame inside the movie clip. How do i place a button inside a movie, and navigate ALL WITHIN THE MOVIE CLIP?

Im sorry, I'm young, and I'm a newbie!!! Thank you for the help

Movie Question?
Whale Rider-Interesting look at the Maori people

Romper Stomper-Also about white suprematist

Hotel Rwanda-Great movie, you will want to take action afterwards
Reply:recently i saw american history x but it was on cable chanel FX and they cut a ton of stuff out of it, but when i saw how much dereck changed from his time in prison was like wow he completely wants a new life.

children of men was great it was about how all the women in the world could not concieve, or if they did they miscarried, great movie if you have time watch it.
Reply:Sid and Nancy was an eye-opener for me.

Downfall was great too, though be prepared to read the subtitles.

Alfred Hitchcock's Rope, Strangers on a Train, Psycho (1960's version) and Rear Window

Wait Until Dark

The Grey Zone

Brazil

The Day After

Klute

Rain Man

Kramer vs Kramer

White Heat

Black Like Me
Reply:Requiem For A Dream, Better Luck Tomorrow; those listed above are great, too
Reply:Crash and Schindlers list
Reply:Mrs. Palfrey at the Claremont~This probably would be too "fluffy" for you. It deals with aging and bridging the "Generation Gap" and mainly is about people caring about each other.

Five Desperate Hours (1997)

Into the Homeland (1987)

Another Day in Paradise

Before and After (1996)

Requiem for a Dream

A Home of Our Own

The Station Agent

Betrayed (1988)

American Heart

White Oleander

The Lookout

Bully

Some are harsh and gritty, but others are positive and even inspiring. It will be clear which is which. The harshest of all time for me is "Requiem for a Dream". I haven't even been able to watch it a second time because it's that powerful. You care about these people and don't want them to be destroyed.
Reply:The emotive novel “Once Were Warriors” was later adapted into a screenplay of the same name, and gives us a detailed insight into the lives of the Heke family, an unstable Maori family, whose trouble’s are realised all to late. This film moves me, and is an eye opener into the lives of maori families.

Reply:Rain Man, Shawshank Redemption and the Pursuit of Happiness were three great movies that touched me. Also What's Eating Gilbert Grape. It doesn't start as the greatest movie but the endings worth it.

I know that there are many more, but it's 5:30 a.m., and this headache says that I've been answering questions too long! Maybe I'll think of more. This is a tricky one! You could list people's names or locations, but it's difficult to recall if some of the more-unusual ones are spoken. Some appear in songs, but I didn't include those. "Call Me Irresponsible" is one that is sung, not said.

Actually, most titles sort of show up with no problems. Offhand, I can't think of any "ouchies".

Movie Question?

What is the name of the movie where kids turn into animals?

the movie starts out with a group of kids throwing mud or dung at one another then they run chasing a boy and a girl up to a gate and the girl says the gate has a curs on it and her mom put it there (the girl is an orphan)

the movie also has a talking ferret

thats all i remember from the first five minutes of the movie

thanks for your help

Movie Question?
Yupp I agree with kat, I think the movie you are talking about is The Golden Compass, but the kids do not turn into animals. They have animals beside them

Hope that helps!!
Reply:Hello

Don't think that I have seen this movie. But after doing some research on movies, here are some I found with talking ferrets in them:

Golden Compass,

Clifford's Really Big Movie,

Candy the Ferret and Milo the Cat,

South Bronx Heroes,

Redwall,

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire,

A Ferret Called Mickey,

The Beastmaster,

Hansel and Gretel,

Mr Brother Jack,

Nutcracker Fantasy,

The Pursuit of Excellence.

I'm sorry that I cannot be of much more help. I don't think any of these movies actually relate to the kids turning into animals bit too, but I hope they help in some way! :D

What is the movie called that has a young guy go into the hospital for a routine procedure but things go crazy

and by crazy I mean he is away but sedated. He can feel everything and he can think and the preview of the movie shows him freaking out. I believe his girlfriend tries to help things or something. The doctors have a reason for killing him blah blah. For the life of me I can't remember what the movie is called. Obviously its a horror flick and I do believe recently came out. I got "sublime" off netflix because I thought that was the movie by the description but it was wrong..and now its driving me nuts (by the way..Sublime is a good movie for those who like horror and screwed up movies lol). So ...PLEASE help me figure out this movie lol
