MOVIE QUESTION: I am looking for the title of a certain movie, I only remember bits of the plot?

This movie I have been searching for about fourteen years now... Does anybody know the title of a movie that is a drama (if I remember correctly), was made between 1985-1994, and is about a young boy (about 7-10 years old) who runs away from home with a car, and travels across the country in search or a certain type of lottery ticket (or something like a lottery tick, he buys them at gas stations and such). Does anybody know this movie??????????????????????????????/

A ten year old boy gets tired of life with abusive parents and cashes in his piggy bank and steals a Mustang. He rides off into a surreal America playing "Motorama," a game sponsored by Chimera Gas Company. He has various encounters with different people, and eventually reaches the Chimera Gas Company where he finds they are not playing by the rules of the game.
