Gang and Mob movies are one of my favotire movie genres. I am going to BestBuy tonight and I wanted to know what you guys reccomend for a great american crime/gang/mob movie.

I already own

-The Departed

-Goodfellas

-Gangs of New York

Anything that has won lots of awards, has a great cast, or is your personal favotire be sure to mention.

The person who gives me the movie option that I purchase will win the best answer. Please if possible reccomend more than one gang/crime/mob movie because I have enough cash to buy 2 or 3.

POSSIBLY THE BEST MOVIE EVER.
Reply:the untouchables..... it is a great movie.... i love it!!!
Reply:Scar Face...classic.
Reply:Gotta go with "The Godfather." It is (arguably) the best movie ever! You should get Part II also and see them together. In fact, I doubt if BestBuy has it, but FF Coppola edited the two movies together to make "The Godfather Saga" or "The Godfather: A Novel for Television." I never saw it on television, but I've seen it on video. I'm sure you can order it from Amazon, Blockbuster, Hollywood Vid, etc.

Other than that, you might like "The Killers" with Lee Marvin and (yes) Ronald Reagan!! It's about a guy (Reagan) who stiffs the wrong guys!

Oh, another classic is "Asphalt Jungle" with Sterling Hayden (who played Capt. McClusky in "The Godfather") and James Whitmore et al. It's the film that inspired Quentin Tarantino's "Reservoir Dogs." Speaking of which, it's also about a jewlery robbery gone horribly wrong. Both are great!

If you're going to look at Tarrantino flicks, then "Pulp Fiction" is hard to beat! "Jackie Brown" is also A-OK!

Another classic heist flick is "Dead Heat on a Merry-Go-Round" with James Coburn and Aldo Ray. If you look quick, you'll see Harrison Ford in his first speaking part! And that's from 1967!

One more..."Heat" with Robert DeNiro and Al Pacino. Though they were both in "The Godfather, Part II, they never appeared on screen together. This is a slam-bang action heist flick from Michael Mann, and I highly recommend it!
Reply:The Godfather and the Godfather part II. Part III is pretty bad mainly due to some horrible acting by a certain director's daughter but you might want to pick up all three if they are sold together.

Easter Promises is a great gangster film, although its about the Russian mob operating in London.

Reply:You have to go with the Godfather Trilogy, hands down... Better than Goodfellas and blows away the Departed. Should get it for a decent deal since they sell it individually and with the whole set.
