I seem to recall reading somewhere that a Movie is scheduled to be made this year on Sugar Ray Robinson ?? ----- Has anyone heard any specifics re: this film ?? ------ Is it a Studio Movie, HBO Movie or made for TV Movie ???----- Is this just a rumor or is a Movie on The Sugarman scheduled to be produced this year ???

I wish I could answer your question,but I've just heard rumors too.I heard that a screenplay was written and purchased,that's all.Production has started on "The Fighter",starring Mark Wahlberg as Lowell's own Mickey Ward.Also Ving Rhames is set to play Sonny Liston in a bio-epic.You can always check out 1998's "Sugar Ray Robinson:The Bright Lights and Dark Shadows of a champion" documentary if you havn't seen it yet.Also HBO has produced a documentary on Joe Louis due to be brodcast this year.***edit*** I remembered where I saw that a script was written and bought (december's Boxing Digest ).The movie will be called The Life of Sugar RayRobinson.It is scheduled for pre-production in march of this year and release in early 2009.A director has yet to be named.Negotions are underway to distribute the film w/ two major studios.Michel Shane and partner Anthony Romano ( I,Robot and Catch Me If You Can ) are onboard to executive produce.
Reply:The movie you're talking about is the life of Micky Ward. The most deserving boxer of the last 10 years. A book was written about him called Irish Thunder. He sealed his seat in the Boxing Hall Of Fame following his trilogy of matches with Arturo Gatti.
