They've converted gas stations, stolen just about every ad slot in prime time, been plastered on anything that can be plastered on, and make you unable to turn around without hearing some idiot singing the Spiderpig song. Has there ever been any movie even remotely like this promotion-wise? I guess when you're a guaranteed success, you can splurge all you want, but some of this is ridiculous:

Yesterday Homer did Jay Leno's monologue! I sort of like the way they're selling it as the greatest movie ever created and withholding the plot, even though now there is absolutely no way it can live up to the hype. It it turns out to completely suck, then, well, they'll be a lot of angry people.
Anyway, are there any numbers in the promotional budget department? I don't remember a movie ever being like this, though I suppose if anyone deserves it, its the Simpsons, if for nothing else, seasons 6-8 and their impact on society.
Has any movie ever come close to being as heavily marketed as The Simpsons Movie?

Reply:viva la simpsons!
Reply:yea no kidding!...i was just thinking about that today! and the funny thing is that i think the movie will be a flop....it will do good on vhs/dvd though
Reply:I know! I was thinking that same thing earlier today! I don't know why its all over, everytime you turn on the TV you hear Ralph going "Da da da da, da da da da, da da da da!" in a 20th century FOX logo, Krusty beating up the Burger King guy, having those Simpsons on those BK cups and these things they are saying about their sandwiches on those ceiling ads, having them on the news all the time, I mean seriously, they put commercials on like once or twice in EVERY commercial break. YAAAAAA!!!!!!
Before we know it McDonald's is going to give out Simpsons Happy Meal toys.
Hope it turns out good.
They started the process of making the movie in '01.
