Quick Movie Recommendation. I have to choose between these movies HELP?

I am going to work on an essay about one of the following movies:

1) The Last Emporer of China

2) The Last Samurai

I am going to analyze the movie and compare it to its historical accuracy. Which movie do you think is more interesting and has more sources out there? Which movie should i choose that i will have to watch hundreds of times and work on it for the next month or so? Any recommendations. Thx.

Quick Movie Recommendation. I have to choose between these movies HELP?
The last Samurai has taken great liberty with historical facts in forcing the paralellism between the American native and the Samurai. In reality, the Samurai were not a separate ethnicity living in their own communities (as the film would have us belive) but rather the equivalent to the European 'knight', that is a separate social class. They were often employed for life by warlords known as daimyos. They have played an ambiguous role in japanese history at times idealized in tales of their heroic stoicism, at times also depicted as vagabonds and robbers. (Watch Kurosawa's the seven samurai). The Last Samurai is inspired by the rebellion of the clan of Satsuma which took place in the late 19th century. Led by Saigo Takamori, the rebellion was a reaction to the abolishing of the samurai class and their privileges in the effort of modernization during the Meiji restoration era. Saigo, an ambiguous character in japanese history, was at the time an enemy of the emperor yet later became venerated as a kind of hero. His statue was erected in Tokyo's Ueno park. ...Plenty of material there
Reply:to be quite honest, most hollywood movies based on historical facts are as fictionalized as they could get.

I've seen The Last Samurai once...but, it didnt interest me. But, I often heared a friend of mine complain constantly about how not true it was.

good luck with your essay!
Reply:the last samurai
Reply:The Last Emporer of China the movie itself is rather inaccurate to the actual Chinese history, that might give you a lot to write...
Reply:Watch them both and do it on the one that appeals to you the most.

I loved the Last Emperor.
Reply:The Last Emperor is the easy "A" paper. You should have no problem researching it.

The Last Samurai is more fiction that history so you will have a difficult time writing anything....
Reply:You could research them on www.criticker.com
