Movie title help boy looking for his dad in a foreign country?

Looking for a 85-99's movie of a Kid looking for his father in a foreign country. I vaguely remember what happene din the movie but have been looking for it forever. One scene involves him following train tracks to a town still trying to find his dad. The movie ends with the kid being chased by a couple of guys using the wierd Rock and rope weapon, Hes chased through some where ruin type place that kind of resemble aztec ruins.





Any help with this movie would be greatly appreciated.

Could it have been the 1997 film 'Legend of the Lost Tomb'? It's about a young boy whose father is kidnapped in Egypt, after he finds a map to treasure, and he teams up with a girl to find him.





It could also have been the 1995 film 'Max Is Missing' about a boy who is seperated from his father while visiting in Peru after a dying man gives him an Incan relic that tomb raiders are determined to snatch from him.
Reply:Could it have been Empire of the Sun? Christian Bale was the kid, but I'm not sure if that is the same movie. Sorry, all I could think of.
